You know that feeling of triumph when a long-held wish finally comes true? It happened to me last Sunday . . . and the Sunday before.
See, I’ve always wanted to bring coffee to church. It’s a simple yet forbidden desire.
Until the shift toward life at home turned a couch into a pew, Facebook LIVE into church, and my wish into reality. It’s been a bright spot in a lot of gray, making it perfect for this mini-blog devoted to revealing joy in everyday moments.
But what I thought would generate the most joy—the smell and taste of French press coffee from my cow mug—was only second to what my other senses noticed:
- Seeing my family in their jammies “attending” Sunday Mass.
- Hearing the priest give a thoughtful homily that included a C.S. Lewis quote.
- Feeling the warmth of a blanket and my daughter resting against me.
I looked at each of my loved ones, capturing this moment of joy that had prevailed over fear. And then, just as decadent as my next sip of coffee, I let the gratitude flow.
Hope you enjoyed this mini-blog—just the right length for a quick dose of perspective! If you have a moment of joy to add from the last week, please comment below and keep the conversation going!
I can honestly say I have had several moments of joy this past week! First, I have enjoyed having the family together & having many game nights. While prepping my flower beds & enjoying the outdoors, I have noticed all the new spring growth, smells & sounds. Above all this though, is the relaxed pace of life. While I don’t love being stuck at home & all the issues that have come out of this, I am thankful for the time to enjoy a slower lifestyle & all the beauty in my little part of the world. ❤️
Aww, I love this, Terry! Thanks for sharing and for helping us all shift our perspective toward the positive . . .
My moment of pause is so sweet…gratitude in a ‘cookie mix in a package’….
I typically make cookies from scratch, but my trips to the grocery store has been challenging these days…the shelves are mostly empty…no more flour…no more sugar…no more eggs…such a challenge left me grabbing a ‘cookie mix in a package’…at this moment of uncertainty, my family is always in my mind…I have a loving husband and a good son by my side during this ‘stay at home’ days…and a ‘chocolate chip cookie’ is a confort ‘sweet snack’ for the men in my life…as soon as that first initial smell from the oven surrounds the kitchen and moves toward the living room, I hear footsteps….and the kitchen becomes a ‘party of 3’…and when the timer sounds, they are both ready for 3 or 4 freshly baked cookies and a glass of milk each…and I oblige, of course, as I serve two smiling faces…such priceless moments that make me grateful…such gratitude in a ‘cookie mix in a package’….
